A major robbery incident shocked the Uttarpara Kotrung locality after a businessman reported that valuables worth several lakhs were stolen from his residence during the night. According to police sources, a group of masked robbers allegedly entered the house by breaking the rear entrance while the family members were asleep.
The criminals reportedly threatened the occupants with sharp weapons and forced them to hand over cash, gold ornaments, and important documents. Family members claimed that the robbers operated professionally and completed the entire operation within a short period before fleeing from the scene.
Neighbors informed the police after hearing loud noises and cries for help from the house. Senior police officials visited the location along with forensic teams to collect fingerprints and other evidence. CCTV footage from nearby streets is being examined to identify the suspects and trace their escape route.
Local residents expressed serious concern regarding security failures and requested authorities to increase surveillance in residential areas.
